The Biophilia Summit is Living Future Europe’s annual international conference dedicated to advancing the theory, practice and future of biophilia.
Now in its fourth edition, the Summit brings together researchers, designers, architects, developers, manufacturers, educators, artists, policymakers and innovators who share a common ambition: strengthening the relationship between people and nature to create healthier, more resilient and regenerative futures.
Taking place online on 24 September 2026, the Summit explores biophilia not simply as a design approach, but as a way of understanding how the living world shapes our health, our communities and the places we create.
This year’s theme, Biophilia in Practice: Sensing, Belonging, Regenerating, reflects the growing evolution of biophilia from a set of design principles towards a broader framework for regenerative thinking and practice.
Rather than focusing exclusively on buildings, the programme explores how biophilia can influence human experience, professional practice and the future relationship between people and nature.
Throughout the day, participants will discover research, built projects, innovative products, policy initiatives and creative practices that demonstrate how biophilic thinking can be translated into meaningful action.
The programme is structured around three interconnected themes:
Experiencing Nature explores how nature influences our bodies, minds and emotions, covering topics such as health and wellbeing, neuroscience, environmental psychology, multisensory design and nature connection.
Designing with Nature focuses on professional practice and implementation, showcasing projects and innovations in architecture, landscape, urban design, healthy materials, biodiversity, circularity, technology and regenerative development.
Regenerating Relationships looks beyond today’s practice towards the future, exploring ecological reciprocity, community stewardship, biodiversity restoration, climate resilience, more-than-human design and new ways of imagining the relationship between people and the living world.
The Biophilia Summit is intentionally interdisciplinary.
Whether you are an architect, interior designer, landscape architect, engineer, developer, manufacturer, researcher, educator, policymaker, artist, student or community leader, the Summit offers an opportunity to exchange knowledge, discover inspiring work and connect with an international community committed to shaping healthier and more regenerative places.
The programme is designed for anyone interested in the intersection of nature, design, health, culture and the built environment.
Participants will gain practical insights from leading international speakers, discover evidence-informed projects and research, and explore innovative approaches that bridge science, design and implementation.
More than a conference, the Biophilia Summit is a platform for advancing the future of biophilia—creating connections across disciplines and inspiring action towards regenerative communities.
