It is our pleasure to introduce Patricie, the most recent addition to Living Future Europe’s team for this fall! Patricie is currently studying a master’s programme in Sustainable Development at Uppsala University, Sweden. Check out our latest new article about Patricie’s background and her experience with LFE.
What drew you to work with Living Future Europe?
During my master’s programme, I have realized that I would like to connect my bachelor’s degree in biology with a non-profit sector. Later, I learnt about biophilic design and how it examines the connection between the built environment and nature. This is when I found out about LFE, its mission to spread this progressive way of thinking.
Although I do not have a background in architecture or design, my master’s programme provides me with a holistic understanding of what it means to aim for sustainability, which gives me a chance to work in many fields without having the typical professional background. Systems thinking, for instance, is essential to the built environment, and it is precisely the kind of skill this programme has equipped me with and which I am excited to bring here.
What also made me interested in LFE is its broad scope of activities and wide area it operates in. I am enthusiastic about sustainability initiatives that have international range. As I am mostly interested in gaining skills in partnership, grant development and event management, LFE definitely provides a perfect place for this.
How has your experience been at LFE so far?
My experience at LFE has been very enriching so far. Being Regenerative Operations Support enabled me to see how a non-profit organisation works on a daily basis and I had the opportunity to learn from every member of the team. I have also gained more insight into how sustainability certifications work, including the Living Building Challenge. During the master’s programme, I passed courses like Natural Resources and Sustainable Development, which now help me to transfer this knowledge into a practical setting.
In the past two weeks, I participated in promoting the Biophilia Summit 2026. I am excited about the event and learning from a vast range of architects, researchers and developers about what experience and knowledge they have regarding biophilic design. Finally, I am also looking forward to being involved in planning and carrying out the crash course in Regenerative Design in Digital Practice, happening at the end of October.
