Closing Thoughts from the Living Future Europe Biophilia Summit
What an incredible journey we’ve shared over these past hours. From brilliant expert presentations to transformative projects, we’ve explored biophilia and our love of life through countless perspectives and lenses. Our conversations ranged from the technical to the meditative, weaving together creative expression, art, and poetry.
Whether examining the world through moss and owls, exploring biophilia-based leadership and place-based storytelling, or diving into the remarkable realm of biomimicry and its call for disruptive innovation, we’ve been reminded of who we truly are as biophiliacs—those who see and celebrate the profound interconnection between ourselves, our buildings and nature.
Yet as we reflect on this summit, two critical questions emerged that deserve our continued attention.
How are we genuinely integrating nature’s systems and regenerative loops into our designs, our educational approaches, our organisations, and our leadership practices?
And perhaps more provocatively: are we comfortable enough in our love of all living things to embrace the creative possibilities of AI and digital innovations that we have yet to fully imagine?

These questions challenge us to move beyond rhetoric and into meaningful action. From this rich exchange, two key takeaways stand out:
the recognition that nature is our greatest teacher, and
the urgent call to shift our language from human-centric thinking toward a life-centric perspective.
None of this would have been possible without the extraordinary community that made this summit a reality. Real gratitude goes to our brilliant speakers and moderators, to the judges, to our generous sponsors, and to the LFE team working behind the scenes—particularly Carlo and Livia.
We encourage you to continue the conversation: connect with fellow speakers through the registration portal, engage with LFE on LinkedIn and join our Biophilic Society monthly gatherings. If you haven’t yet signed our manifesto affirming that connecting with nature will save our society, we invite you to do so on the LFE website. And please note that recordings and responses to unanswered questions are available. (link)
And to finish with a quote from Rob Hopkins … “lets fall in love with the future”
Until we meet again—journey well.
