Living Future Europe (LFE) proudly contributed to London Climate Action Week 2025 with three high-impact events that gathered hundreds of professionals across the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) sectors to explore regenerative design, resilience, and wellbeing in the built environment.
At the heart of this year’s participation was the launch of the LFE Coalition — a growing network of industry leaders investing in LFE’s work for a regenerative Europe, where the built environment is no longer a burden on our climate and resources, but they re-generate energy, water and ecosystems. The LFE Coalition already includes Manni Group, My Green Lab, Humanscale, Habitech, Grimshaw and WSP — organisations committed to advancing regenerative design in their core operation. This coalition will serve as a shared platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and coordinated action toward a more regenerative built future.
Here is a highlight of the events.
Thinking Beyond Sustainability – with WSP
WSP partnered with Living Future Europe to host a panel event for built environment professionals eager to push the boundaries of sustainable design. The session focused on how regenerative design goes beyond reducing harm, instead aiming to repair, heal, and rejuvenate both the planet and communities.
Expertly hosted by David Leversha, WSP’s Property & Buildings Decarbonisation Lead, and moderated by Rahul Patalia (Head of Urban Regeneration, WSP), the event featured a rich discussion on the value, principles, and real-world application of regenerative design. Panellists explored the challenges and opportunities in scaling regenerative approaches, including nature-based solutions, community engagement, circularity, nature financing, and resilient place-based design. Key highlights included a deep dive into the Eden Project as a case study of regenerative innovation.

The event offered powerful insights and practical inspiration for professionals looking to embed regenerative design into their work and be part of a movement turning global challenges into opportunities for positive transformation.
Regenerative Futures – with Grimshaw and Architects Declare
The second event was held in partnership with Grimshaw and Architects Declare, Regenerative Futures: Shaping Design for a Resilient Planet, gathering over 200 attendees for a dynamic panel moderated by Dr Paul Toyne, Head of Sustainability at Grimshaw.
Panellists included:

- Julia Barfield (Managing Director, Marks Barfield; Architects Declare)
- Andre Loosemore (International A&D Director, Humanscale)
- Dr Asif Din (Director of Regenerative Design, Perkins&Will)
Together, they explored the principles and systems thinking necessary to shift our industry toward regeneration. As Dr Toyne stated in his opening remarks, “We have an impact on our planet, so we have a responsibility.” The event underscored the urgency of building a regenerative economy, with practical insights on achieving net-zero carbon buildings and restoring ecosystems.

Regenerative Approaches at Heyne Tillett Steel
The final event, Building Resilience: Creating Great Places Through Regenerative Approaches, brought together about 100 attendees at Heyne Tillett Steel (HTS), co-hosted by LFE, The Institution of Structural Engineers, Ramboll, and Systemiq Ltd.
With opening remarks from Lindsay Baker (CEO of Living Future) and closing reflections by Carlo Battisti (President of Living Future Europe), the day featured a strong line-up:
- Stuart Macalister (Heatherwick Studio) — The intersections between ecological and human-centred design at Google Headquarters
- Joanna Yarrow (Human Nature) — How Shall We Live? Places, Exponential Sustainability & Social Imagination
- Andre Loosemore (Humanscale) — Regenerative Design: Discover the Power of Circular Products
- Michael Batley (Systemiq Ltd.) — How AI, Urban Science, and Systems Thinking Can Help Optimise Regenerative Development.
